Shipping now!

I know I have remained silent for the last few days because I was recovering from a harsh cold. I have tried (in vain) to remain away from the computer screen as well as the outside world as much as I could. Anyway, I am starting to feel better now and here is a small update: a first batch of 9 packages containing 1 t-shirt and 100 flyers have been sent by regular mail today. Some of you should start receiving little treats in the mailbox as soon as next week! The rest will follow during the month of october.
Flyers

Here are the flyers! Fortuantely, they have arrived in Grenoble just in time, i.e. a couple of days ago. There are some copies circulating in Lyon already! They have been delivered a little late, because I had to order a second edition of 5000 copies. There was a very stupid mistake in the first edition (and I was responsible for that).
If you have participated in the project, you will receive 100 copies so that you can spread the word to your family, friends and partners. If you have not participated in the project but you are interested to have some of these in your town, please go to mybiennialisbetterthanyours.com, click on “MEDIATION” and send a message telling me where you are located, who you are, and why you should receive flyers. At last, click on the picture to display a higher resolution.
Lyon

As you might know already, I was in Lyon today to put up the poster in the exhibition room (located in the first floor of Musée d’Art Contemporain, if you ever come around). This poster is the only component relaying mybiennialisbetterthan- yours inside the Xth Biennale de Lyon. It might look a little raw right now, because the lightning is not correctly set up yet. If you would like to see the details, please click on the picture to display a higher resolution.
Lousy t-shirts

The t-shirts have been silkscreened and I am extremely happy with the final result! They have been produced by Elshopo, a laboratory for serigraphy located simultaneously in Germany, France and Japan. If you have participated in the project, please do not forget to send me your address with your size in order to get your t-shirt.
Poster

The poster is finally here! Actually, I have received a first copy last week, but the “X” on the logo did not come out so nice. It is quite weird but each time I want make a print, there is a problem with solid colors. Anyway, I have asked for a new copy and I received this wonderful poster earlier this morning. I would like to thank IPP (if they ever read these lines) who have been very comprehensive about quality issues and delivered a second print completely free of charge within 48 hours.
Coding

Coding is what I have been doing since yesterday. At first, I thought I would build the site using Indexhibit, but since I am not familiar with the system and I fear not to have enough time to discover everything, I have decided to run TextMate and type good old HTML. It seems like I forgot how stupid it was to try to center things vertically in tables and such since the last time I have conceived a site in HTML. Anyway, it is progressing fine now and for those of you who have access, the demo version should be up and running in a couple of days.
Graphic design

Aurelien Arnaud and Denis Carrier are good friends of mine and most of all, they are brilliant graphic designers operating as PNTS. The picture above shows Denis’ desk at their brand new office. If you look carefully on the computer screens, you can see tiny previews of mybiennialisbetterthanyours’ forthcoming visual components. The logo is already online, used as a teaser on the project’s site and the profile picture of this blog. The proposition they have made is pretty simple and quite smart in my opinion.
Since mybiennialisbetterthanyours is a project in a project in a project in a project, they have decided to use 4 cubes in C/M/Y/K, each color representing one level: black is referring to the Xth Biennale de Lyon, yellow is symbolizing Living Together a sub-section of Hou Hanru’s project taking place in Musée d’Art Contemporain, magenta is corresponding to Thanks for the add, the collective proposition of Season 18 and finally, cyan is standing for mybiennialisbetterthanyours. Everything else is based on this logo.
You will discover the flyers, the poster and the t-shirt pretty soon.
