Amsterdam in reverse
As you may have noticed, Constant Dullaart looks like he is about to be strangled by a woman wearing a red scarf — but do not worry — he is still alive and well. Indeed, this picture was taken while he was simply introducing some of his works exhibited as a part of in reverse, a collective exhibition currently displayed at foam in Amsterdam. Update #09 | Presentation
OK - I admit that I am a lazy dog. I did not give any news about the two presentations announced earlier, but to sum up briefly the one in Guatemala was a little complicated because of technical issues, whereas the one in Grenoble was a pretty exciting event which lasted for almost three hours. Unfortunately, no one (including myself) did make any recordings: no video, no pictures, not even a...

Update #08 | Presentation
Two forthcoming presentations are scheduled on the 25th and the 27th of November. The first one is entitled mibienalesmejorquelatuya, an online presentation streamed from my house to Proyectos UltraVioleta, a not-for-profit organization defined as “a multidimensional platform for æsthetic dialogue” located in Guatemala City. The second one is called Please ring the bell - Do not ring...

Taiwan, b##ch!
Here is a fashionable picture of Clôde Coulpier taken a month ago in Taiwan, in which you can see him wearing one of these famous t-shirts produced for the project. If you have received your t-shirt as well, please send me a picture and you will be inducted to mybiennialisbetterthanyours’ hall of fame too! Click on the picture to display a higher resolution.

Update #07 | Reward
The weather is quite cold in Grenoble and it seems like the winter is here already. If you are one of the participants, I wish you live in a better place than me - a place where you can still wear these sexy shirts! If not, you can still hand some flyers to your friends and impress them anyway. For your information, another batch of 10 packages has been sent today through postal service today.

Shipping now!
I know I have remained silent for the last few days because I was recovering from a harsh cold. I have tried (in vain) to remain away from the computer screen as well as the outside world as much as I could. Anyway, I am starting to feel better now and here is a small update: a first batch of 9 packages containing 1 t-shirt and 100 flyers have been sent by regular mail today. Some of you...

VIP
I have spent last monday and tuesday in Lyon for the professional preview and it was more or less interesting. You have to remain available for two days just in case there are some questions. I did not have the opportunity to take many pictures, but there is one I wanted to share with you. On this picture, you can see the poster, Hou Hanru (the curator of the current biennial), Bertrand Delanoë...

Flyers
Here are the flyers! Fortuantely, they have arrived in Grenoble just in time, i.e. a couple of days ago. There are some copies circulating in Lyon already! They have been delivered a little late, because I had to order a second edition of 5000 copies. There was a very stupid mistake in the first edition (and I was responsible for that).
If you have participated in the project, you will receive...

Lyon
As you might know already, I was in Lyon today to put up the poster in the exhibition room (located in the first floor of Musée d’Art Contemporain, if you ever come around). This poster is the only component relaying mybiennialisbetterthan- yours inside the Xth Biennale de Lyon. It might look a little raw right now, because the lightning is not correctly set up yet. If you would like to...

Lousy t-shirts
The t-shirts have been silkscreened and I am extremely happy with the final result! They have been produced by Elshopo, a laboratory for serigraphy located simultaneously in Germany, France and Japan. If you have participated in the project, please do not forget to send me your address with your size in order to get your t-shirt.

Poster
The poster is finally here! Actually, I have received a first copy last week, but the “X” on the logo did not come out so nice. It is quite weird but each time I want make a print, there is a problem with solid colors. Anyway, I have asked for a new copy and I received this wonderful poster earlier this morning. I would like to thank IPP (if they ever read these lines) who have been...

Coding
Coding is what I have been doing since yesterday. At first, I thought I would build the site using Indexhibit, but since I am not familiar with the system and I fear not to have enough time to discover everything, I have decided to run TextMate and type good old HTML. It seems like I forgot how stupid it was to try to center things vertically in tables and such since the last time I have...

Plain white t-shirts
Each work deserves something, right? Believe it or not, the budget to carry out mybiennialisbetterthanyours is around 600€. Unfortunately, this means I cannot afford to pay any kind of fees. I needed to find a solution and I have decided to make a limited edition of t-shirts: each contributor will receive a t-shirt as a reward for taking part in the project. Well, here they are - plain white...

Update #02 | Flyers
The files have been sent to the Print Carrier. This is the first time I work with them and I am afraid they have the cheapest prices I have ever seen. If everything goes well, the flyers should be delivered at the beginning of next week.

Graphic design
Aurelien Arnaud and Denis Carrier are good friends of mine and most of all, they are brilliant graphic designers operating as PNTS. The picture above shows Denis’ desk at their brand new office. If you look carefully on the computer screens, you can see tiny previews of mybiennialisbetterthanyours’ forthcoming visual components. The logo is already online, used as a teaser on the...

A short introduction
so you want to be a curator is the backstage of mybiennialisbetterthanyours.com, an online project curated by Tolga Taluy for the Xth Biennale de Lyon. It is the microblog reporting the general production process of this project.
Rather than focusing directly on the work of Michel de Certeau and Guy Debord - the two theoretical mainstrays supporting The Spectacle of the Everyday - the project is...
